Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant with a strong focus on Accounts Payable (AP) to join our finance team. This role is responsible for the full-cycle AP process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, managing payment runs, and supporting month-end close and other financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of AP best practices, internal controls, and play a key part in maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financials.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
- Reconcile AP sub-ledger to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and review AP aging reports and vendor reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit sales/use tax monthly for multiple states and jurisdictions.
- Lead the month-end close process for AP, including accruals and journal entries.
- Maintain the vendor records and ensure proper documentation for 1099 reporting.
- Handle day-to-day banking activities and cash movements.
- Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
- Perform reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including cash, fixed assets, prepaids, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
- Assist with external audits and internal financial reviews.
- Safeguard financial data confidentiality and report potential fraud concerns.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
- Communicate effectively across teams and with vendors via phone, email, and video conferencing
- Take on additional tasks and special projects as needed
Required Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite; NetSuite experience is a plus
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong project and time management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Integrity, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information
- Eligible for a Nevada gaming license
Education/Experience:
- 1 - 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
- Experience in a publicly traded company is advantageous
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods
- Occasional movement within the office to access equipment
- Frequent use of hands for typing and operating standard office tools
- Capable of clearly articulating thoughts and viewing detailed information
